FootlooseThis coming year we will be performing 'Footloose' as a main production in February 2010 (keep checking for details which may be found in our 'in production' page.)

We also will be producing a special concert in aid of "Save the Children" during which it is hoped to have some cameo appearences from some older members who are now professional actors and actress's - see our 'in production' page.

We look forward to seeing you over the coming months.

Welcome to the official website of Seaham Youth Theatre Group, the premier non-professional company for young people in the East Durham and Wearside areas.

Early rehearsing at Summer School 2005With some of the North East's best talent, we stage a major production in February each year, often producing titles that many other (adult) societies have dismissed as being too difficult.....

We were one of the first groups in the area to perform the School Edition of the international West End and Broadway phenomenon Les Miserables, and from September 2004 until February 2005 were working flat-out to produce a sensational piece of theatre.

We may be amateur, but we certainly do not produce 'amateur' shows..

Our productions are of the highest possible quality and scale, and we pulled out all the stops for Les Miserables School Edition - indeed, it was our most expensive venture to date.

The last couple of years was no exception in that we staged the West End success 'Me and My Girl' - In 2007 we performed the North East Youth Premiere of 'Disco Inferno' - in 2008 we performed the very popular High School Musical. This year was no exception when the cast pulled off the technically difficult "42nd Street"

The group rehearses every Friday evening beginning in early September, with auditions taking part later that month. Once the show is cast, rehearsals continue weekly until Christmas when after the break we introduce extra Sunday afternoon sessions as the opening night looms closer!

Anyone who feels they can help and is prepared to give up a few hours a week of their time, or anyone wanting more information can contact our secretary Heather Hepple on 0191 5818029 or email at secretary@seahamyouththeatre.co.uk (NB. All adult helpers on a one to one basis with the youth will be expected to be subject to CRB checks.)

At present, we have a waiting list for new members between the ages of 11 and 18 (although we do try to get as many as possible off the waiting list and into the lineup as possible), so any youngsters interested in joining need to get their name on that list - contact Heather on 0191 5818029, where you can be given more information on joining.
